Welcome to the official start of the 2018 season & the new website! We are coming off of a great summer program & look to carry the momentum through August.

The first day of practice is this Monday, July 30th. Practices runs from 4 pm to 6 pm. We meet near the Weinberg Snackbar. All experience levels welcome, just make sure you have proper running gear. Intermediates meet MWF; JV & Varsity meet M-F. Please review the housekeeping items below.

New Dress Code:

We have a new dress code for all off campus runs with the intent of increasing our visibility for motorists & drivers out on the roads; thereby protecting ourselves from harm as much as possible. Starting this season, we are adopting the colors of fluorescent orange, fluorescent yellow-green, and fluorescent red as acceptable colored shirts to wear for outruns. These safety colors are specified the American National Standard for High-Visibility Safety Apparel and Accessories, ANSI 107, as the most noticeable colors to the naked human eye in daylight. In addition, other acceptable colors include: bright red, bright yellow, bright pink, and other fluorescent/neon colors (think highlighter colors). Neutral colors, white, grey, black, pastels and dark colors are not acceptable. The majority of the shirt, if not all, should be of high-visibility color, and wearing high-visibility shirts supplements our existing off-campus traffic safety guidelines & best practices.

The team will provide a fluorescent orange-red practice t-shirt for everyone free of charge. A booster tank top will also be available for purchase at cost for $10 until supplies last. The 2018 team shirt & Invitational Kualoa shirt will also be primarily of acceptable high visibility colors and suitable for outruns. Don't worry, you can wear any colors for track workouts on campus. The coaches will let you know the schedule ahead of time, but for the first few weeks, prepare for outruns every day.

Schedule:

If you have other sports/commitments, please see Coach Jack at practice to work out an acceptable schedule for all parties. In general, we are happy to keep things flexible, but at the same time, we have to come to a consistent schedule for you to not only get the best out of your season, but also to avoid over training & injuries. We have students with multiple commitments & have had success in helping students multitask.

Save the Dates:

The season kick-off parents meeting is on the first day of school, Monday, August 20th, 5:30 pm in the Student Center. Please be sure to attend.

The 20th anniversary of the ʻIolani Cross Country Invitational returns to beautiful Kualoa Ranch the afternoon of Saturday, September 15th, and the Pasta Feed on Friday, September 14th on campus at 5 pm. Please save the dates & lend us a hand. This event is a homecoming event for our program as IXC families past and present join forces to host teams from all over the state & US mainland. This year we have 17 mainland teams signed up & should make for some great racing. Please lend us your time to put on this great event!

Please contact Coach Jack at boyscrosscountry@iolani.org should you have any questions!
