Home of ʻIolani Boys XC

This week is a busy week for IXC with two meets spread over Friday & Saturday. Please review the information below:

Friday, 10/5, ʻIolani Intermediate Invitational at Kapiolani Park

All 7th & 8th graders will run this Friday. We'll also have 6th graders from the lower school join us. Students are excused from school at 1:30 pm on Friday & bus departs ʻIolani at 2 pm sharp. Refer to the schedule page for time line, and please be proactive in notifying your teachers you will be end school early on Friday.

Saturday, 10/6, HPU XC Invitational at Kahuku Golf Course

This is a new meet we are attending. HPU has extended their invitational to local high schools. The meet entry is limited to 25 runners per gender per school. There will only be one HS boys race and one HS girls race, 9th through 12th combined, i.e. JV/V combined. The HS races will be preceded by the collegiate men's & women's races. Bus will leave ʻIolani at 5:30 for the meet, please refer to the schedule page for full time line. Note that this meet conflicts with SAT, and testing takes priority over this meet. Parking is very limited, we encourage everyone to take the bus or arrive very early. This early routine is a good dress rehearsal of our states team as they have to be up by 5 am to be ready and sharp for an 8:30 race.

The coaches announced the 25 9th-12th graders representing ʻIolani at the HPU Invitational during Monday's practice & emailed them separately regarding entry forms. It is a privilege to represent your team in this invitational, as such, those not running should plan to attend the meet. We will do a group outrun on the north shore as well as cheer on our racing team. It will also be fun to watch the collegiate races.

Saturday, 10/6, Bowling

Reminder this Saturday is the team bonding bowling event at Ft. Shafter from 5 pm - 7 pm. Thank you to those who RSVP'd. Since the bowling alley is on base, please take the bus from school at 4:15 pm. Bus will return to school around 7:30 pm. It is cosmic bowling, an excuse to wear our bright shirts.

Monday, 10/7, Holiday Practice

Monday is Columbus Day & no school. We will hold an optional practice from 8 am - 10 am at Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden. We will meet at the end of Luluku Road & the start of Park Access Road. Bring water bottle.

Any other updates will be posted later this week. Please contact coach Jack if you have any questions.
